Introduction

By default, non-administrator Users will only have access to the content they have created or uploaded - unless explicitly given permission. This tutorial explains how to give another User or User Group permission to access content that they did not create/upload.

Note: If you have given a User or User Group the Owner/Editor permission for a page, they may receive an error message when attempting to access the existing content on that page. This is due to page and content permissions being kept separate in The Digital Bell. The tutorial below explains how to give those Users or Groups access to the page's content, as well.

Step 1 - Edit a Page that Contains the Content

Begin by clicking the "Pages" tab, located in the menu at the top of any Digital Bell page. This will bring you to a list of the site's pages. Locate the page where the content appears, then click the "Edit" button (pencil icon) to the left of the title. This will bring you to the content editor.

Step 2 - Edit the Content Element

In the content editor, locate the content element you would like to update, then click on it to open the editing window. A Text Block is used in the example images, however these steps remain mostly the same for FAQs, File Groups, Link Groups, and Image Galleries.

Next, locate the collapsed "Permissions" sections and click to expand it. Here, you should see the User(s) or Group(s) that currently have access to the element.

Step 3 - Add a New User or Group

Locate the "Add New User or Group" field, then begin typing the name of a User or User Group. As you type, a list of results will appear below the text field (if no results appear, the User or Group cannot be found). Click to select the appropriate User or Group from the results.

Add User to Permissions

After selecting a User/Group, use the drop-down menu to the left to set their access level (Viewer, Editor, or Owner). Continue adding Users/Groups as needed.

Step 4 - Finish

Once the appropriate Users/Groups have been added, click the "Submit" button to save your changes. Note that you will need to repeat steps 2 - 4 for each content element on the page that the new User or Group should be able to access.
