GSL Solutions is pleased to announce the availability of a new version of the software that delivers The Digital Bell, HillTop, and Frontrunner services. This release of the software is considered to be an incremental release and contains minor feature improvements and a number of bug fixes.

What You'll Notice As Being Different

  • The User Dashboard has been extensively changed. All of the plumbing and wiring have been changed. You'll see some changes now and we're set up for easily making future changes. In this release you'll see a change to the formatting of the user dashboard (we've changed corners from being rounded to now being squared). Also, we've reduced the number of individual modules that users can add to their user dashboard -- we've removed the modules that nobody was using. We've added the ability to to add modules for each individual post type in order to provide users with quicker access to the posts that they actually use. Finally, we've added a quick search feature so that you can find what you are looking for quicker.
  • A new functionality, system tags, has been added to the system. This allows sites that are similar to be grouped together. For The Digital Bell, this means that tags can be set to identify all of the schools that are in a given school district, tags can be set to identify elementary, middle, high, charter, and private schools. For HillTop clients, democrat and republican sites can now be grouped together, committee sites can be grouped together, etc. This feature will make it easier to allow functions to be related to a subset of websites.
  • The login screens for The Digital Bell, HillTop, and FrontRunner have all been updated. Now an image is displayed as a background and the user is presented with username / password login fields in the middle of the screen. Although the functionality has not been changed, the overall look is much more professional.
  • An interface to the BrainTree online payment processing service has been added to all three services. Users can now create payment forms that use BrainTree to collect online payments from users in addition to the support for PayPal payment collections that is already supported by all three products.
  • A new feature that allows teachers to make recommendations for what classes their current students should take next year has been implemented. This is ? of the total course sign-up functionality that will eventually be implemented. This feature knows what classes are being offered, what students are taking what courses, what teachers are teaching what courses, and what the planned sequence of courses at a given school are. All of this is used to present teachers with a list of their current students and a specific set of next course recommendations.
  • Selecting files to attach to a post has been made easier. In the past, when you had already added a media file to your account's warehouse, when you wanted to attach one of the files in the warehouse to a post you had to go wading through everything that was in the warehouse in order to find the file that you wanted. No more.
  • With the changes in this release, you are now presented with a much larger window which shows you all of the files that you have in your warehouse. Now you can limit what files you see by file type (photos, videos, docs), the documents are listed in "last added at the top" format with the thinking that you'll be most often working with the most recent files. If you know the name of the file that you are looking for, you can use the new search feature to look for it. In short, this feature is now better in every way.

The Digital Bell and Frontrunner production software will be updated on Monday, December 8th, between 11:00pm - 2:00am. The HillTop production software is planned to be updated on Wednesday, December 10th between 11:00pm - 2:00am. During this maintenance window customers may experience up to 60 minutes of service interruption during which you will be unable to access the service.
